The fast-casual burger concept has approximately 120 franchised and corporate-owned restaurants. The Cherry Hill location opened at 1584 Kings Highway North after partial demolition and reconstruction of a mattress store at the Ellisburg Shopping Center at Kings Highway and Route 70.

The tenant improvement allowance is a specified, pre-negotiated amount of funds, normally calculated per square foot, that a landlord will provide a tenant to help pay for improvements to a space.

BurgerFi opened at the Ellisburg Shopping Center in Cherry Hill six months ago and has permanently closed.

Daniel, a self-described serial entrepreneur, believed the fast-casual burger franchise would do well in Cherry Hill. A fitness trainer, Daniel previously owned a Frutta Bowls and a vape shop.

Office Furniture Retailer Coming to Cherry Hill

The former Bayard’s Chocolate House, a Route 70 landmark that’s been vacant since 2019, is expected to become the new home of an office-furniture discounter.

Affordable Furniture Outlet, also based on Route 70, will move a half-mile to occupy the 3,100-square-foot, two-story building, according to information presented at a planning board meeting on Monday.

Cherry Hill Bowling Alley Reopens

Cherry Hill Bowling Alley Reopens Under New Management

The Big Event Entertainment Experience is back, under new management. Bowlero Corp., which owns hundreds of bowling alleys throughout North America, has officially taken control of the bowling alley.

The corporation announced its acquisition of The Big Event last November. The 36-lane bowling alley closed last Tuesday to prepare for the ownership change, reopening on Friday.

The Big Event (1536 Kings Hwy. N) features a 36-lane bowling alley, plus attractions such as billiards, arcade games and the Erlton Social Craft Bar & Kitchen. The entertainment center and eatery will honor all events post-acquisition as booked, according to Jon Perper, The Big Event’s president.

Houlihan’s in Cherry Hill Abruptly Closes

The restaurant chain’s only South Jersey location closed abruptly Saturday at The Market Place at Garden State Park

It was the latest shutdown for a chain that’s shed more than a dozen locations in recent years, including eight in New Jersey.

The restaurant operated at its Route 70 location since 2008, when it moved from smaller quarters at the nearby Cherry Hill Mall.

Signs on the front door of the Cherry Hill restaurant expressed regret, but gave no reason for the closing. They said Houlihan’s was working to relocate employees “immediately to one of our nearby locations.”

Car Wash Approved to Replace Cherry Hill Diner

The days are numbered for the iconic diner that for 58 years has stood on the Church Road Circle at Route 38 in Cherry Hill.

Cherry Hill Diner, once known as the Windsor Diner, will be torn down and a car wash will replace it, according to a developer’s proposal that was approved at a Tuesday night meeting of the Township Planning Board.

A car wash is a permitted use under local zoning law for the property at 840 Cooper Landing Road, so the choice of a car wash was not subject to debate by board members.

Zoning in Cherry Hill Making it Difficult for Super Wawa Development

A Super Wawa or similar project that combines gasoline stations with food preparation stores probably will never be built in Cherry Hill again, according to a new ordinance that late last year amended the Township’s zoning code.

Even building a new gasoline station could be a stretch in the Township because of the new zoning regulations.

Wright was a leader in the community’s 18-month heated battle against plans to build a Super Wawa at the corner of the Barclay Farm Shopping Center on Route 70, near the entrance to the Barclay Farm neighborhood. The owner of the shopping center on December 21 pulled its application to the Township.

While that Wawa war was being waged – with some Township officials expressing their own concerns about the Barclay Farm plan – the Township Council began to consider adopting a model ordinance from the state that encourages electric vehicle charging spaces.

The Township customized that model ordinance, adding sections addressing gasoline fueling stations. Council voted unanimously to adopt it in late September.

Cherry Hill Diner May be Torn Down for a Car Wash

The Cherry Hill Diner, which has sat on the edge of the Church Road Circle for 58 years, would be demolished and a car wash would be constructed on the lot, according to a developer’s application to the Township Planning Board.

Applicant PJ Land Development LLC of Farmingdale, New Jersey proposes a 3,620-square-foot Tidal Wave Auto Spa car wash on the 1.05-acre site, which has frontage on Route 38 and Cooper Landing Road.
